Tried that but although I could log on to this forum it would not let me log on to support.

I just tried it and it worked by clciking on support at the top right of this page. Your link did get me to a 404 error. Do you have the site blocked in your Browser? Are you getting any notifications to that effect?
I know that problems with the forums are being fixed; perhaps you tried to get in during one of the fixes to the support page..

It worked for me today but my problems have been answered on this forum elsewhere so I did not pursue it. There was one annoying thing. When I got to the support page I could not leave it by clicking, nor by double-clicking, the "back" arrow in my browser.

Sorry, I was able to come back by using the browser back arrow. What browser are you using? If it is IE 7 or Firefox, right click on the "Support" link and open the page in a new tab. I don't remember if that is available in IE 6.
You could also use the little down arrow next to the forward arrow and select one of the recently visited pages.
