I had to wipe my hard drive and am in the process of reinstalling everything. I installed my retail version of EMC 8. When I run Backup MyPC the first thing I get is the splash screen showing that it is version 6, if I remember correctly. Then, I get this popup that says "This is a pre-release version of Sonic Backup MyPC". I never got this message before I did the reinstall. What's this about and is there a way to get the release version without buying it?
Backup Mypc Pre-release Version?

Hello Bminion,
I've not seen that pop-up reported before, and I can't find that text string in any of the EMC8 files or the Windows\system32 files on my system.
Would you run Creator 8 please, and tell what version it reports when you go to Help > About ?
There is an updater for the retail version 8.00 [800B85C] to 8.05, available here (click).
Regards,
Brendon

The only time that I saw that message was in beta testing, way back when. I never saw it on the final release of EMC 8.
Life is good!

I checked the version and it was 800B85C. After I installed it I ran the updater but it said there was nothing to update. So, after your post, I went and downloaded the update manually and installed it. Now I am at 805B30B and that funny message went away.
Thanks for your help.
