Did you use Creator Classic or Sonic's Home screen Data Project and burn a data disc project?
A DVD authoring program like MyDVD and Disc Copier makes compliant DVD Video Disc's and always closes them! That is what you should use to burn a DVD to play on a stand alone set top player.

I don't think you need tech support for such a simple task, answering the questions would be a start! Did your Roxio EMC 9 come pre-installed on your pc, or is it a bought retail version?

Most here use Retail bought versions from Roxio and are different. You might have to list your programs so someone could help. More details the better, start with how you burned your DVD that won't work!

Part of the problem is getting the information to give advice. It's like pulling teeth. What program, in the EMC suite, did you use to make that DVD? Where did the source file originate?

Please forgive me but all the information I have is as follows:
1. I am using roxio 9 EMC which came with my dell computer.
2. I am trying to burn onto a dvd-r disk.
3. I taped a program with my dvd recorder in my living room (not my computer dvd drive)
4. I am trying to burn a copy of that recorded program using roxio 9 EMC and my computer dvd drive.
5. The disk will not finalize or close. It ejects the tray and it tells me to use an appendable data disk which I had done originally (dvd-r)
6. The dvd will refuse to play on my dvd player in my living room, which leads me to belive it is not finalized because the data burned fine. The program is on the disk. I just cannot watch it in my living room dvd player.

The stand alone DVD Recorder has to burn it in DVD Video Format not a VR Format, and it has to finalize the disc not your DVD Burner and the Roxio program!

You still refuse to state what program within Roxio EMC 9 you are using to burn!
