I am trying to burn an image that is 7.3 GB using an HP DVD+R DL disc. An error occurs and I've tried all the HP discs I bought. Can anyone tell me what I should do?

What kind of image file and in what application of the suite are you trying to burn it in?

**052600  Invalid field in parameter list. These errors are difficult to specify a cause for. Most of the times the problem is in the system.

Are you using a Retail Roxio EMC 9 version or a pre-installed on your pc version?

If retail look in tools for DVDInfo Pro, open it and place a failed disc in the drive, click the Info icon at top. What does it show for Media code/Manufacturer ID (MID) and Available Write Descriptor? Now what speed did you try and burn the disc at?

If you don't have Retail and DVDInfo Pro, download for free #1 in my signature CDDVDSpeed, to a folder you make new on the desktop. Unzip/extract the file in that folder and click the .exe and run it from there. Put a failed disc in the drive and open CDDVDSpeed disc info tab. What does it show for Media code/Manufacturer ID (MID) and Available Write Descriptor/Write Speeds?

DVDInfo Pro will give you the info below, Drive icon then top right of page. I posted it in case you don't have a Retail version. CDDVDSpeed will give the same info when the drive is selected in the top drop down window.

To identify your drive in XP. Right click my computer and click properties. The system properties window opens, click the Hardware tab and then click device manager. The Device Manager Window opens, from the top view, make sure a dot is next to view devices by type. Click the + next to DVD/CD-Rom Drives, post exactly what it reads?

For the firmware version, right click the drive/s and click properties, click the details tab. It should show, example mine IDECDROMBENQ_DVD_DD_DW1640_______________BSRB_____. The # where my BSRB is, is what we need you to post.

I would guess the game disc has some built in copy protection, most do!

Breaking encryption on commercial DVD's is illegal in most places around this world.

Roxio doesn't allow talk of it here, sorry.

I was using the Copy>Burn Image part of the suite.

Oh...Ok then, no back-ups for me then. Oh well...I guess I'd better take good care of the game!
Thanks for your help!  biggrin.gif

I ran into a simular situation with 10 when trying to do any type of burning with DVD's and DL DVD's.
In my case it turned out that I had to check the "Overburn by (sectors)" in the Option section In the Disk COPY section.l

I got an error on ANY DVD project I tried.. Now its running great.
This option was there for OLD type drives.. I don't know why they didn't make it checked for initial use??

You were not trying to copy a copyright protected disc.

Some burners will not handle overburn and if you try, you might crash the head.  Roxio is trying to protect you.  biggrin.gif  That's why it is not the default.  I have no idea why that would have worked for you.

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.
