Does EMC 7 have the capability of mounting a .iso image as a volume with a drive letter?
If not what version of EMC has this capability?

I'm running Windows 2000.
Purchased Windows XP last week, but will not install until I build a PC for the critter.

7.5 definitely has a disc image loader (go to extras and utilities on the home menu).

It is probable it is also in 7.0 but I can't be certain

I cannot find in 7.

Does the loader actually assign a drive letter to the .iso image?

It must have been one of the 'add-ons' that started with 7.5 - I haven't looked at 7.0 for a few years now, sorry

It does allocate a drive letter to the virtual drive

I'm trying to do this without installing additional software.

PC is multiboot.
On another OS on the PC, I habe Nero 6.*, which, I believe can do the deed.

Indeed, when I build my new PC, I'll have to make the choice between Nero 7 and Roxio and ... .

I think that Disc Copier, in EMC 7 and EMC 7.5, are the same. You can preview that .ISO, without mounting it. Open Disc Copier, browse to your .ISO, then do what shows in the following attachment.

Thanx.

Disk Copier 7 does not offer those options.
I do not want to preview the .iso, I would need to MOUNT it.

When I get a chance, I'll boot to my OS that has Nero and see whether that works.

I stated

I don't know if there were any updates for version 7 beyond what you have.  EMC 7.5 was an upgrade (purchase), and of course after that came EMC 8, 9, and now 10.  Unfortunately, EMC 7.5 was the first version to include Disc Image Loader.  An alternative to the VLC application mentioned, you could also get the DAEMON Tools free disc emulator which allows you to mount image files as a drive letter.

Hope that helps!

Umm... I can't find anywhere where you say what type of disc image file you're trying to mount, video or data. (.ISO can be either one.)
