I have episodes of a show that I am trying to burn. In addition to the AVI I also have some files for each episode with the following extensions:

The Sixth Extinction [2-3] (07-11-1999).avi
The Sixth Extinction [2-3] (07-11-1999).En.srt
The Sixth Extinction [2-3] (07-11-1999).Es.srt
The Sixth Extinction [2-3] (07-11-1999).idx
The Sixth Extinction [2-3] (07-11-1999).Pt.srt
The Sixth Extinction [2-3] (07-11-1999).SUB

What do these mean to me and how do I use them when burning?

Thanks,
Steve

Where did these files come from? They look like they are sub-title files and ripped from some DVD.

All you might need is the avi file. Play it through WMP and see if everything is there. EMC does not work with sub-title files.

The Sixth Extinction [2-3] (07-11-1999).avi
The main AVI file. Contains audio and video. This is your movie/show

The Sixth Extinction [2-3] (07-11-1999).En.srt
English subtitles. Burn them with the show if you need them

The Sixth Extinction [2-3] (07-11-1999).Es.srt
Spanish subtitles

The Sixth Extinction [2-3] (07-11-1999).Pt.srt
Portuguese subtitles

The Sixth Extinction [2-3] (07-11-1999).idx
The Sixth Extinction [2-3] (07-11-1999).SUB
different system of subtitle file with its associated index, in case your player doesn't like .SRTs

P4 @3.20GHz on Albatron PX-865PE Pro II with 2GB DDR-SDRAM, FX5900XT video, Viewsonic monitors,
BENQ DW1640, in XP Pro and Windows 7

I blame it all on Global Warming / Global Cooling / Global Staying the Same [pick one]

Thanks for the explanation Brendon. This makes sense. I was hoping that the IDX was a chapter index but not my luck.
