I use Roxio to create mp3 compilation discs to play in my car stereo. This works fine as long as I can make Roxio write to the data disc as 650MB/74 min (Using Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 on my old pc).
However, my new computer came with a copy of Roxio Creator 9 Basic and this doesn't seem to have an option to set the size of the data disc - instead it's writing them to around 700MB and my car stereo can't read those.
I'm considering upgrading to Roxio EMC 10, but can't find any information regarding if that version allows you to set the size of a data disc. Can anyone confirm that it does or doesn't do that please?

With Music Disc Creator in either the full version of 9 or in 10 you can choose a variety of sizes, including 74 min/650Mb.
Your version just doesn't have these added applications.

You should be able manually limit the amount of data you're writing. Nothing in what you tell ECDC about the size of the disc affects how the data actually gets written to the disc, that's determined by the pregroove that's pressed into the disc during it's manufacture. So, whether you tell the program it's a 650MB disc, or a 700MB disc, as long as the data fits, it will go onto the disc the same way. And actually, "setting the size" just tells the program what to expect once the disc is finally inserted. When it goes to write the disc, it then queries the disc for the actual amount of space available.
Again, "setting the size" does not affect how the data is written to the disc. I'm guessing the problem is a classic writer/media/reader incompatibility that you'll be able to solve by using a different brand of disc. If you're not using them, try some Verbatim discs (typically work well) and make sure you're using CD-R, not CD-RW discs.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the replies. Funnily enough I am using Verbatim discs - but the first two I tried were lightscribe discs and the last one I did on the older computer was a normal Verbatim CD-R. So looks like I should try one of the normal discs on the computer with version 9 to check if it is those discs that are incompatible with the car CD player, then if no success I'll go for the upgrade.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Before you go for the upgrade, I'd try yet some other brands of discs... somewhat cheaper to try first.
