mydvd9

im near the end of my movie project and I did a sample burn for testing, went to go play it back and for some reason when I start the movie the  1st song plays ,but at the same time another song is playing (I think its the third song on the audio track)

so I went back to the project , and sure enough the same thing happens in the preview.

so i went into the movie 'edit', in the timeline view, didnt see anything unusual.
so , I deleted the original 1st song (hoping both would go) went to preview again , and the other song still plays, and there is nothing showing on the audio track in the timeline view.

is there a hidden track area ??
or something else I can do to remove this unwanted song?

if you read my posts from last night, I recently removed and added songs.........apparently I did something I wasnt aware of in that process.

any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.........even some black magic

Yes, there is a hidden track.  It's called the Internal track, and that is no doubt where you told the software to put it, even though yu didn't know you told it to.  Open the internal track, and delete it.

ok, well in the timeline view, i selected the 1st scene, selected internal tracks, another screen came up, and there is nothing listed under  the music track, they are all blank. i even clicked > (play) and the scene played with no music (here in internal track) ????
but when I go back out regardless whether its in the timeline view, storyline, preview, or do a burn a song plays when there is not one  shown on the music track for that given period.

anything else I can check?

thanks

I just tried another test.
in the storyline view, I selected the first chapter (movie) and moved it elsewhere in the production to see if the music followed it..............it didnt. The music is not attached to the scene, its attached to the timeframe.

i'll be up all night, if anyone else has any ideas.
thx.

Did you perhaps inadverdantly add a song to one of the other audio tracks such as the FX or narration tracks. These tracks are not "visible' unless you unhide them using the "Show/Hide Tracks" icon

not that i know of, i'll continue looking

each time I go into 'show/hide tracks' all the settings are the same for each song, and they all look the same with nothing attached............i'll keep looking.

Something else you can try.

Make a backup copy of your project file. Then using the backup project eliminate the audio clips one at a time and play through the preview to see if the 2nd song gets eliminated at some point.

i'll consider that.

for whats its worth, last night when I was replacing a song or 2, I may have done something different.

1) when you want to add music to video:
do you click on 'add background music' which is always visable near the upper left
or
are you supposed to go into mymovie, scroll down to 'add audio'
i think i may have used the 'add background music' icon

2) after you choose the song you want to add, a prompt comes up giving you 3 choices:
'add on music track'
'add on sound effect track'
'replace audio'

while throughout the entire production, i have always chosen add on music track and it tacks it on to the end, (while tinkering around)I believe I chose 'replace audio' to see if i could get the song to drop right where i wanted it to, instead of adding it to the end of the music track

do you think anything I did here might be the culprit?

well, I just got through removing all my music (1 song at a time and checking preview each time) AND THE SUCKER IS STILL THERE!!!!
there's not a song on the audio track, but when you start the movie in timeline/storyline view or preview there's a 2 1/2 minute song that plays .

I even went through each chapter (or movie, whatever you want to call it) clicked on 'internal tracks' there isnt anything under music, effects, OVL1, or  Text, they're all blank . Also clicked on show/hide tracks and they're all set the same, the top 3 boxes are checked (effects, ovl1, text) and the only box checked in the lower audio section is 'music'

Im really striking out here.
This phantom song still prevails and it has to go.

Im deffinately losing sleep over this one!

When you are editing that project, go to tools, options and clear the proxy files.  Sometimes they retain a phantom piece of music.

The proxy files will be rebuilt immediately with only what is in the edited project.

Look at the bottom to see if there is a indication that there is music there.

You are not viewing all the audio tracks if only the Music box is checked: to see all tracks you also have to check the "narr" and FX boxes.

I cleaned the proxy files and nothing changed

went to storyline view and there was no muscial icon present anywhere

Then I went to show/hide tracks clicked on nar. and fx

AND SURE ENOUGH IT WAS RIGHT THERE ON THE FX TRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
deleted it, did a sample play, and it was gone for good!

Thanks to all for all the suggestions.
