I am trying to burn high definition DVD using a 4.7 GB DVD-R, what options do I have to use to do this. And before I transfer my movie what format should it be to get the high def format from Toast 9. I use iMovie and quicktime. I am a newbie.

Choose the Blu-ray or HD-DVD format and just use the DVD media.  Your playback device will need to be made to read this type of disc and not all of them are capable of it.
