I built a production in Vido Wave. I made several DVD's and send them to friends, saved 1 for myself. I accidentially erased my production from Roxio before I saved it to my external hard drive. Why can't I save it back to my hard drive from the DVD I created?

Everything on the DVD you can, unless the DVD has read errors. Open Roxio EMC 9, copy, disc copier, place the disc in the drive and on the source side choose that drive. On the destination side choose a Image file or Video_ts folder set, uncheck the burner, save the file where you want and click ok.

The production itself is just a list of places where the files reside on your computer.When you burn the disc the production gets looked at and the files accessed.The production itself is never burned to the disc.To get it back you need to remake the production.
To get the contents of the DVD on your drive do what CD said to do.
