Logical Unit Communication Failure - Hardware Error "[04/08/03]

I'm currently using roxio easy media creator 8. I've been having trouble copying DVD's. An error message keeps popping up and my blank dvd's are rendered useless whenever I try to copy.

The error message is a follows: {Logical unit communication failure - Hardware error "[04/08/03]}

If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

DVD RW media is perfect for experimenting and troubleshooting since it is reusable…

Sounds like the drive is gone. Using Creator Classic see if you can burn anything from there. If you don't have DVD RW's on hand try setting the burn options to Test Only. It will exercise the drive without actually turning on the burning laser.

Do you have Internet Explorer 7 or Windows Media Player 11 Installed?

WMP 11 caused same error in this post, click here.
