Has anyone come across a way to convert VHS tapes to DVD, with Realtek sound. Have tried Dazzle 90 and 100. Doesn't work with Realtek/Vista sound system. Get video, no audio - tried two different programs, including EMC9.Upgrades on everything don't work. Have been messing around with this problem for 6 months, want to get something that will work. Was going to give Plexor, ConvertX a try, but so hesitant about it. What other kind of converters are out there that I might research and buy? Thanks for the guidance. MK

I don't think the problem is so much Roxio as it is Vista.
When Microsoft made Vista they decided to change the way sound works in it.There are some cards/chipsets that just don't provide the correct inputs to do some of the things people want to.
As far as trying to get it to work try this:
Go to the Control Panel,Sound and go to the Recording tab.Right click on any entry you have there and when the menu comes up there should be an entry to Show disabled Devices.Hit it and then check to see if disabled devices now show.If any do try enabling them and then seeing if you get sound.
Also go here and download the latest drivers for the Dazzle products.Remove the old ones and install the new ones. Also make sure you have the latest Drivers/Software for the Realtek.
You may or not be able to get this to work no matter what software you use.Another capture device may or may not also work.

Going to try and go about this another way. My husband has a Plextor ConvertX converter he uses on his computer. He has realtek sound, Windows XP (not Vista). I got on their website to see if there was a download so I could use it with Vista. I found info on there that took me to Roxio's web site - had to do with upgrading EMC8 to work with Vista. I already have EMC9, so didn't need it. But does that mean Roxio and Plextor are somehow connected? Would like to use this Plextor - PX M402U - but not sure it will work with Vista. Anyone else have a Plextor convertor that can be used with Vista? Appreciate and input. thanks. MK

No connection between Roxio and Plextor
As for getting EMC8 to work with Vista - that's a figment of someone's imagination as 8 will definitely not even work on XP if Media Player 11 and/or Internet Explorer 7 are installed

I have my doubts about getting it to work. It's still a USB 2.0 device and if the Vista/Realtek combo won't recognize the audio from the Dazzle I kinda doubt it will recognize the audio from the Plextor.
The problem is not the capture device,it's the Realtek audio device in combo with Vista.
One thing you might try is going to Realtek's web site and seeing about new drivers.I was just there and they have drivers that were put out within the last month.Could be that updated drivers will make a difference.

I do know that the newer Realtek HD sound setup is a royal pain. I have one here and wound up disabling it and fitting a Trust card instead (I use an audio link from the computer to an amateur radio setup and every time the transmit was started or switched to receive on an external USB audio interface, the Realtek window kept coming up saying 'you have connected a new device')

Here is the end of the Dazzle/audio saga. After taking the second Dazzle converter back to the store and ditching it, I confiscated my husband's Plexor Convertx and plugged it in. I figured there was no way it would work with Vista, as he had been using it with Windows XP. Low and behold it installed and when I went to Roxio Video Capture, I had BOTH video and audio. I AM ONE HAPPY CAMPER. Of course my husband is a bit leary of the whole situation. So my Realtek/Vista works with the Plexor and for some unknown reason, the Dazzle would never give me the audio, even though I had upgraded the driver a few times. Thank you all for all the advice and your patience. MK
