Hi I have a Sony DV Handycam Model DCR-TRV480. Toast 9 does not acknowledge its existence as it should per the instructions. It is recognized fine by both iMovie 08 and Final Cut Express. Any thoughts/ideas?

Have you tried connecting and turning on the camcorder and then open Toast?
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

Yes I have but what I am going to try now is shutting down the system and restarting. Maybe I have some funky background process going on. I am also going to test it on my other Mac if it has a firewire port (my brain has gone dead whether my MacBook has a firewire port). I am working on a beautiful Mac Pro tower right now.

Okay rebooting fixed it. It works fine now - thanks - sorry I jumped the gun, should have tried that first
