Music Disc Creator noises

I tried to make a cd of some of my favorite songs and I had them blend together. I had the transition at 10. seconds wth no fade. Some of the songs made loud popping sounds which sounded like my speakers were going to blow....what causes this and can I stop it? (I have system sounds turned off)

We're going to need some more info:

What is the source of your music, .MP3 files? .WMA files? .WAV files? Directly from CD? Purchased/downloaded/recorded from your sound card?
When do the offending sounds occur, randomly throughout the tracks? During the transitions?
Can you describe the offending sounds? (Pops? Crackles? Horrible static?)

Let us know, and we'll have a starting point to try and help you out.
