I posted this somewhere else, I think it was the wrong forum. So I posted it again here.

I have spent hours editing this video and now it is not showing up in the little preview box in the top left corner. If I double click the little roxio production symbol in media selector it plays in the popup window. But it's not showing in the other. I can't play it or edit it. This happened before and I lost all of it so this time I saved it in several places. The first on has locked up and says "this prodution cannot be previewed because it contains one or more invalid files. Required playback components might be missing from your system or files might be corrupt."
The other one I saved plays but I can't edit or view it in the window as stated above.
Help!

Update: I uninstalled windows explorer 7, Did not help.

Let's take this from the beginning. This is a DSMS file? You open up Videowave, go to file choose project listed. Is it at this point that it doesn't show up in the previewer? We always need all the steps you take to try and figure out what is wrong.

Yes dsms file. I open it and it shows in the timeline view or the storyline view but does not show up in the previewer. I can double click the saved dsms file and it plays in a popup box previewer. Until i save it again and try to do the same then it says "this production cannot be previewed because it contains one or more invalid files. Required playback components might be missing from your system or files might be corrupt."
thanks for your help

I'd recommend doing this first so that you won't lose all your editing work up until now.

Do a File\ Output production as..... and either save it for a DVD/best or a DV AVI file.

Did you by any chance move any of the files that you used for the production?

And a note of caution.....if you've done any altering of pictures (not video) in VideoWave, don't do a repair or reinstall yet. There are hidden edited files for pictures that you may lose if you repair/reinstall before backing them up in another location.

Do you have Windows Media Player 11 installed?

*edit * I see you've uninstalled IE 7, did you restart your computer after you uninstalled?

In addition to what Patty and ml posted, sometimes, when you roll back to IE 6 and WMP 9, the software either has to be repaired or reinstalled to get it working properly.

Pay heed to what ml said before doing the repair or uninstall/reinstall.

I tried to do:
"Do a File\ Output production as..... and either save it for a DVD/best or a DV AVI file."

but it says "there is insufficient available system memory to render the production, try shutting down other productions or reducing the number of panels in the production."
I had no other applications open and my production was only 30 min long and I have 62 gb available on my hard drive. I did a scan disk cleanup and a defrag yesterday.

I did not move any files for the production. I did copy them to a flash drive.

I have not altered any pictures in videowave.

I had already rolled back to media player 10 from some of the posts that I read. I did restart after each.
Should I roll back to media 9?
Should I reinstall the application even though I can't do the "save output thing"?

Thanks for all your help,
Jodie

Is your hard drive partitioned? The program will attempt to put temporary files on the c:\ drive and if there isn't enough room there you can get that message.

Copying files shouldn't have changed anything in your production unless you deleted the original files after you copied them. If files are deleted or moved, the program won't be able to find the files it needs to render the production. If they are moved you have to relink them. Deleted files must be put back on the computer and relinked.

Since you don't have any altered pictures, try a REPAIR of EMC.

How can I tell if my hard drive is partitioned?
I didn't delete any files either.

In Windows, go to My Computer and see if you have more than one drive listed.

For example, I have only one hard drive on my computer, but in My Computer 2 drives are listed c:\ and d:\

A 'repair' of EMC may fix the problem and it shouldn't affect your production.
