I am importing video from a sony mini dv camcorder but after it captures I'm not able to open it or use it in my video. It has a big red circle through the thumbnail... The 'NO' sign.  Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

Might be a codec conflict.  You can try Prefup which worked well in v7 and has worked for 8 for some people.  Not sure why this happens but I think some programs fight for codecs and don't release them to play nice with others.

Hi Paul! Thanks for your response... okay, i'll let you know what happens.  I installed this fix and tried capturing again but got the same thing...  i'm going to restart my computer and see if it works after that...

Actually, when I had that problem back in v7, I had to try the fix a few times with reboots to work.  However, it doesn't seem to work with everyone.  Some have tried a repair install of EMC to get it to work.

LOL... Thats just one of my problems solved... Right now I'm a video-editing train wreck!  Roxio keeps shutting down in the middle of my production... I've been conscience of how often I save but its getting very frustrating... New post I guess...

Thanks anyway. I'll post this problem too!

I'm in the same boat too.  I tried the patch and it didn't work for me.

You can see my - Original Thread outlining the problem.

I contacted Roxio support and this is what corresponded.  It didn't help me but may help someone else.  I really don't understand how installing this program will help.

WebTicket  None Selected Roxio does not reconize ANY AVI's as being valid - the slash inside a circle is all I see. However with MPEG's selected, it works. This is all AVI's, not just ones downloaded through my camera. Also, the AVI's produced during download can not be played by Windows Media Player 10 - but can be played using QuickTime. I have unistalled and reinstalled - no luck. Help!!
