Any idea what's going on? Not exactly sure if i'm doing the *exact* same thing as when I first got EMC10. But it's the same computer, same installation, same DVD media, and using the same settop DVD player. I've tried bringing in different media formats but all with the same outcome

I have EMC10 installed and used it back when it first came out. It made very nice DVDs, but I haven't really used it since. I just started a new DVD project today. When I view the burned DVD, it plays back nicely at first. But the video starts stuttering ~10 seconds in while the audio continues smoothly, occasionally the video plays back smoothly every now and then. During the stutters there's some large pixelation 'static' that appears. After a minute or so, the player starts to hang few a few seconds, 'catches up' to the audio, then repeats the cycle. I've burned a few discs, all the same problem.

Ahhh, the same media doesn't mean anything, if the rest of the media on the spindle is bad. I would try a different brand/type. Try some Verbatims, if you aren't already using them.
Life is good!

I'm using the same DVD discs taht I did my successful initial test on.
What I meant to say was: could it be my video media that i'm putting onto the disc that is causing the problems?
Note: the DVD menu works beautifully, zero problems with the menu.

We could spend a week making wild guesses…
Why don't you just take a minute and tell us everything instead of this drip feed?
What program are you using? (EMC 10 is not a program anymore than GM is a car!)
What settings are you using?
What media?
Does it play on your PC with Cineplayer or WMP?

If you have how did you correct them?

The problem seems to have disappeared on it's own.
I don't know how I fixed it, but here's brief history on what I was doing:
1) Use SP setting
2) Go into Video Quality options, put the slider in the middle
3) Burn DVDs, discover that they don't work.
4) Switch to HQ setting
5) Go into Video Quality option again, put slider to highest quality
6) Create DVDs that work wonderfully
7) Suddenly new batch of burnt DVDs (same project as #6) don't work.
8) Go back to steps #1 and #2. DVDs burning fine for a few weeks now (knock on wood)

Hi Phil
LOL. Thanks for this! Trial and error on quality it is then!
Cheers, Dave

Another thing to watch Dave is the media - some 'brands' are outsourced and aren't actually made by the names on the label. You may find that a batch works fine and then the next batch you buy doesn't.
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
