Hi again, and thanks for the messages.

In a couple of weeks I'm going to have the 114MB fix. It's paid for and shipped.

Now when I sit down to do the install, I want to give this thing EVERY chance of sucess.

So, here's my planned sequence and if it's WRONG please let me know. I DON'T want a failure, come here to "vent," and get things like "ya shudda installed Content first."

1. I'll CLEAN everything Nero (Roxio/Sonic is already gone) with particular attention to the Registry.

2. Reboot and play a few games of Free Cell.

3. Reboot and install my in-store-box EMC8 applications CD. I'll do a "Custom" install using only the apps of interest, or potential interest, to me and the mandatory Label Maker. This SHOULD go well, as EMC8 installed previously with no problems.

4. Reboot and play some Solitaire and NOT click on any EMC8 button.

5. Reboot and install the 114MB fix.

6. Reboot and play Minesweeper and NOT click on any EMC8 butons.

7. Reboot and install EMC8 Content.

8. Reboot and play Hearts.

9. Reboot and THEN click on the video/DVD apps of EMC8 and, I assume "Ya gotta Register," will have to be complied with, THEN try to move a SMALL hunk of video into Videowave.

My HOPE is that all will work. Yea or Nay, I'll here-report.

So, is the above sequence "approved?"
I can't think of ANY way to give it a better chance of working.
If you have a suggested alternate, please say so.

Thanks again...

the quick edit: I re-read my post.
Maybe I should, at step 9, do the Register-thing, then reboot, and after that, button punch?

Hi might pay to defrag the HD disconnect from the net and turn off your AV before the install thats what i did and had no probs with the program. Good luck hope it all works well for you this time.

I can't imagine that Joe Average is going to go through all this though. :)
Doesn't Joe Average just order a "Dell" off the TV or get "a" computer at Sears Roebuck?

That would be the reason why Joe Average sometimes has problems with software.

Interesting developement, well interesting to me and maybe to others:

I ordered and paid for the fix-CD a few days ago.
I got a confirmation email (I rarely check my email) saying:

>>>Merchant : SONIC SOLUTIONS
       Date/Time : 29-Mar-2006 01:36:44 PM

        ========= ORDER INFORMATION =========
        Support Type : Replacement CD/Shipp
         Submitter : Taraday, Ken
         Amount : 10.00 (USD)
         Payment Method : MasterCard<<<

This might be just verbage, but "replacement" CD?
I ASSUMED that I was just going to get a CD with the 114MB fix.

From the above, It looks like my store-bought CD is being "replaced?"

Hmmmmmmmm?

Certainly changes my "steps" for no-problem install... :)

Yikes!  I hope the install goes okay.

Update:
Ordered/paid for fix-CD from Canada on March 29th.
Today, April 15th, and nothing here.

No real problem; just a report on speed (or lack of it) of Customer Service.  :)

Hang in there.  Hopefully you will get it next week.
