Start by listing what optical drives you have in your computer, what process and program you used to burn the photos to a DVD, and what you are actually trying to do.

How are you burning the photo DVD to the disc - Drag 2 disc, Creator Classic or are you making a photo slide show?  Unless those omages are really high resolution, I'm surprised that you need a DL disc.

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Laptop - Windows 7 Home
Dell XPS 1645, Intel I7 1,6G with overdrive ,4G RAM, 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730, Sound Blaster X-Fi MB Panzer, 500G hard drive.

Just curious. Are you using the slideshow assistant in video wave? If so, what transition? I've been trying to solve huge skips in a recorded dvd when I am able to get past encoding preview errors.  Last time I tried, I got encoding preview errors on the first two tries - on the third try it recorded. I think there might be something to the reordering of slides in slideshow assistant that lobotomizes this software. What happens when you don't reorder slides and try to burn? Same result?
