After installing EMC9 I've noticed that My right-click context menus for folders have been changed!  It used to have "open" as the first and default menu item, but now it has been replaced by "rename or move audio files".  As a result, double-clicking on a folder no longer opens that folder! Has anyone else run into this? Does anyone know a solution????  OBTW  I am running on XP...

Thanks,
Chuck

I've never had that problem.  Have you disabled all Roxio junk at startup, via msconfig?

Doesn't sound like anything Roxio is even capable of doing…

Since V9 has not been available for almost a year, where did you get this devil disc?

Jim,

I've had EMC9 for a long time but I'm "updating" from Vista to XP so I'm reinstalling it.  I think it's Roxio that did it, because when I click on the context menu item it brings up a roxio program for dealing with mp3 files and tag data.

I have that also but double clicking on the folder does open it.  I'm not sure what the right clcik has to do with the double left click.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Steve,

I think the connection must be that not only is the context menu entry (from roxio --I'm assuming) the first one on the list but it is also the default, and has apparently replaced my "open" menu item.  that means that a double left click would, in fact select that action..

I hope that makes sense...

BTW,

I tried getting help from the roxio support mechanism, but so far nothing useful has come of that....

Thanks for replying,
Chuck

Sorry, that does not make sense and I'm not sure what your problem is.  The statement above that I bolded is incorrect on my computer. .  A double left click does not open that audio program, it opens that folder.  Is the Roxio program opening when you double left click?

Do you have a problem or is this thread an esoteric statement?

If you can open the folder with a double left click, why would having that default right click be a problem?  The "open" command is the third one down if you right click.

The option you don't like is associated with one of the Roxio applications "Audio Converter".   If you don't want it, you may want to remove it or prevent it from starting.   Ask Roxio what application that is tied to and perhaps they can help you delete that.  I'm guessing that you'll lose more than just that one application.

You may want to go to Microsoft to determine how to change the defaults in the right click shortcut menus.

Looks like a non-event to me too…

Yes the "Move or Rename Audio Files" is present but more importantly, so are Expand and Open!!!

Likewise, double clicking on a Folder does nothing.
