Emc10 - Production Editor Photo Re-arrangements
#1

My current need is to determine whether I can re-arrange groups of photos already located in the EMC10 Production editor, or must I continue to move one photo (and transition) at a time. For instance I built my grandson's second birthday party photos before I loaded his first birthday party, and would just like to move -say six photos first photos before the second ones.
My logic seems to be getting in the way hoping to use the Shift Key to highlight those I want to move to another location.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Unfortunately, the Ctrl/drag doesn't work for me in EMC 10, nor does the Shift/select. The same applies to EMC 9. I don't know if it is just me, or Soxio dropped the ball again.
It does work in EMC 7.5, and that is the suite that I use to make slide shows.

Ron, if I have several images with transitions, I sometimes change back to Storyline view to Shift/Select or Control/Select to the left of where I want it like gpBruce said, and then drag and drop the whole group; it seems clearer exactly what is going where in Storyline view and any wayward transitions or empty panels are easily noticed.

karri - Like GrandpaBruce, in VideoWave I can't seem to get either CtrlClick or ShiftClick to select a group (2 or more) photos to drag to another location, either before or after the selected group. I remember that in EMC7.5, I could do that, could it be that I'm just getting older and can't see the forest for the trees?

Nope, it isn't due to age. It doesn't work for you, and it doesn't work for me, for some reason.

Just to make sure I tried in V9 and V10, and works fine. I would suggest trying to copy and paste, but you say you can't even make the selection. There must be another issue going on, and Bruce is by far more knowledgeable about these things.

I might be knowledgeable about those things, but I have the same glitch on this computer. It works the proper way on my backup computer, so it must be this setup.

I am new to Creator 10 having come from MyDVD (Dell). I am having multiple problems including rearranging photos, drag & drop does not work, nor shift & select. I can't add an additional music track either. Ask Roxio is a joke. All I know to do is start over, hours & hours will be lost. What part of "Easy" doesn't Roxio understand?

The answer to most things Roxio seems to be "ULTRA-PATIENCE" & "TIME". First go to https://selfserve.roxio.com, and log your problem there to get the attention of a tech support agent. Hopefully, that will begin developing a relationship with someone who gives a darn, "Cleaned that up". From the moment I first began to install EMC10 (4/24/08) until I finally got it to act like it knew what it was doing (6/9/2008), I went thru begging, bitching, moaning, threatening, and yes even thanking the tech on the other side. Now to be sure, I don't know whether they will respond for "how to do it", but they are well versed in "why the heck don't it do what it should".
When it comes to methods, it remains to be seen, but at least it offers some hope. As I've said before, I believe EMC is the most comprehensive "SUITE", I've worked with, and I've been with them since 7.0. But I'm not surprised by anything they put in the box, as nothing has ever worked straight up for me. Being a retired older guy, I have some time to work on problems, except sometimes my wife wonders what the heck I'm doing this time.
As you might see by my current problem, I still can't get 10 to respond to the old SHIFT/CLICK or CTRL/CLICK method to identify a group of items to move within the VideoWave Production Editor, in either view.
Good luck.

Thanks and appreciate the response. Just for a little history, here are some of the sequences I had to work thru using XP-SP2:
Wouldn't launch - so - Download Win Installer Cleanup Util. - Remove directxserviceinstall - Reinstall
Register vbscript.dll - Reinstall
Can't find vieszafu\setup.exe
VBSCRIPT RUNTIME ERROR
Since I had previous versions (7, 7.5, 8, & 9) had to remove them all along with the reistry relations.
Update Windows Installer, Scripting Host, MS Core XML Services, Create new user acct w/admin, Reinstall again
Visual C++ runtime error, R6025 pure virtual function call,
Collage_top.png and other _png files missing - Common files missing
These are just a snapshot of the issues, all involving Clean Installs, Registry fixes, determination that regular maintenance items may be killing me (can't clean registry containing Roxio or Sonic items), etc.
It may sound to you that I'm frought with PC problems, but I don't think so, as I'm structured, careful and committed to good maintenance, (removing temp files, cookies, using good defragger, constant McAfee anti-virus and WebRoot), only running and installing with no background activity, etc.
Definitely, I'm not a guru, (might have been in my younger days), but reasonably knowledgeable, and most of all careful.
I really like EMC, and feel that it offers so much for so little, but that Install problems get in the way.
It's just hard not to get frustrated, and I sincerely appreciate your response.
Thanks again, Ron

I have lost track of the number of times I have installed EMC 10, including beta versions…
I have seen some of those errors over time but printed out the Clean Install instructions a long time ago.
I follow those and it installs and is running in under 30 minutes. It does seem to me that it 'breaks' too often but nothing I have documented…
Back to the move photos, I am curious, you have XP and are having this problem???
If so, humor me with this "test". Right click a photo in Storyline view and select Cut. Pick a place for it and right click and select Paste.
Does that work?
If it does, try the Ctrl-Click and Shift-Click again to see if they work?

Tried your test of the CUT and PASTE with no change, still can't Shift or Ctrl Click, getting only one item each time.
Also, I too can't tell you how many times I've gone thru the clean reinstall process, almost like a standard maintenance function. I even posted to their Tech Support site that they should build in a nice routine snapshotting the registry and other files before install and using it as a recovery routine for those who get bit in the butt like me, Seems like I have a lot of company.
Good to hear from you.

Gramps - you must have kicked the tires.....
I too am a Grandpa with the oldest being 26, and the youngest (a heart patient, being 4) but a total of 6 of them. Therein lies the many reasons I use EMC, they love to see themselves in a TV movie setting, with photos and film clips.
I hope I'll be lucky and someday it'll work for me too. Thanks for the info. Any other ideas will be welcomed.
Ron
