Do you have the latest firmware for the DVD ROM?  Is it possible the ROM is going belly up?

I have checked that the drivers are the latest and the DVD Rom will read& play commercial DVD's,CD's and the EMC8 installation disk

I don't know what to tell you.  Maybe it doesn't like home brewed movies.  Who knows?  It isn't a problem with the software, so check the DVD ROM manufacturer's site and see if other folks are having a similar problem.

It most likely won't work but try a different brand of media.  It just might not like the brand you're using now.
