Hi All,

Just recently I upgraded CD Creator from 7.5.... In this version there was something call Drag to disk( I'm guess this was a writing packet to work/format CD'd or DVD's)...and with this I would format all my CD's & DVD's.

Also I was told that everytime I wanted to eject a CD or DVD that I would have to use Drag to disk to eject or the media used would go bad.

Sooooooooo I got a new computer and it has the wonderful VISTA ULTIMATE on it which is another reason for the upgrade to Ver.10.

With this Ver 10 I don't see anymore the drag to disk icon anymore, the question is Do I no longer format my CD/DVD's anymore with Ver 10???

One reason for asking when I would back up my quicken files the disk I used ( which is DVD-RW) was from formated from Ver. 7.5 and now I can't seems to use these disks anymore?

Does this mean any disks I formated with Ver 7.5 I can't no longer use??....Do I now format my CD/DVD's using windows?

I'm confused huh.gif

It's a little more detailed than that. First, IF your new Vista Ultimate will read the drag to disk formatted CD/DVD you need ot save all files on the DVD.
Don't be surprised, if they come back unreadable, and even "uneraseable"!
After saving all files, you may be able to format (erase) in EMC 10. I have a 50-50 success rate with my old CD-RW's I used with DRAG TO DISK.

You do not need to FORMAT a DVD to use with EMC10, if it is re-writable EMC 10 will tell you, and if it has anything on it. Go to TOOLS, Disc Information

Hope this helps

D2D is gone, forget everything you knew about it!

You never format a disc in authoring software as the "format" is dependant on the intended use and type of media. It takes care of itself and never requires anything from you.

Since D2D is gone, you cannot use optical media like it were a floppy. That is called packet writing and is built into the Vista OS if you want to explore that.

You can add more to a disc, open Creator Classic – Help – Contents – Working with data discs.
