Hello,
I'm stucked with this error and I don't understand how to fix it. Under myDVD express, I want to burn a DVD so I add my pictures, few songs and when trying to burn, I get the "Failed to start the image writing operation" error.
The fact is that it used to work properly before! I tried things suggested here and there without success:
Nvidia driver update OK
DirectX update OK
I only use good brand names (TDK, Verbatim, Sony)
I have the same problem with 2 differents DVD burners (intern/external)
I wanted to try the iso file before burning but the dyalog box is grey! (deactivated)
What should I do?
Thanks

What program are using, and where did you get your EMC 10 software?

You might want to try a clean install, following the steps in the following link:

If you have Vista, scroll down to the bottom. There is a link for Vista.

1.) The rendering and encoding and all that dealt with above are running fine.
2.) It was one of those stupid Windows update that broke this.
3.) Its really the DVD burner.

1) Well, I use ccleaner to remove temp files and Ashampoo Magical Defrag to defrag permanently my hard drive so I think it's ok. Drivers and DirectX are updated.
2) it's possible since it used to work perfectly and I didn't change anything but have no proof
3) I have 2 DVD burner and they both work except with myDVD
I should mention that it works when I burn VCD but always fails with DVD and it happens at the beginning of the burning process so I suspect Roxio to fail

A DVD utilizes a different laser to burn with than is used when burning a CD. Thus it is possible to burn one media and not the other.
But you said you have 2 burners and it is unlikely that both would fail at the same time!
It could still be that Windows is not correctly identifying your drives… I would follow the Upper/Lower Filter fix from MS then check under the Roxio Home program – Tools Disc Information with blank media inserted.
