I had this program for about two years. I have made slideshows with no problems, but for the last few weeks I have been trying to burn mpeg videos, located on my hard drive to DVD.

At the point where I need to create chapter in DVD Video, when I execute the "add new Title" or to add the video from the C: drive, everytime I keep getting this error: mad.gif

At this point I am lost ,as I have removed and re-installed the program over and over again-same issues. I have come to the conclusion that the program is inferior and no good. Please any help is appreciated....I have installed the program on at least 3 different CPU's-same error msg.

Any info on th emsg or how to solve it would be appreciated.
Well I went to BB and purchase Easy CD and DVD FOR $29.99, just to be able to tranfer and burn my child's special birthday, from my sony camcroder. I found out during the transfer that it is not compatable with AC3 audio (supposedly audio source from the DVD camcrder). What a nightmare. Now BB will not take it back as I have open the package. Now nowhere on the box did it state that, so I am scre**d again.. At this point I don't know what to so..... angry.gif

In regard to EMC 7 - did you 'upgrade' to Internet Explorer 7 and/or Media Player 11?

Both these will wreck EMC 7, 7.5 and 8

The package you purchased is a cut-down version of EMC9

Yep

Uninstall IE7 - that's the only cure

Both IE7 and WMP11 are backports from Vista and have been causing problems with other programs

You may have to re-install EMC7 after the rollback (they will give you all sorts of dire warnings about progranms not working afterwards, but I've never found that happening

WMP10 should be fine

Thanks:

I'll try doing that...

BTW:

I ahve successfully tranferred the camcorder "VOB" files to my CPU as mpeg file. They play fine in WMP, however whenever I tried curning them, using strip down version of EMC9, the files burn to CD fine, but WITHOU audio. I get the dreaded warning that AC3 audio is not supported. I sthere a way to conver the VOB's or the converted mpegs file to bypass the AC3 warning.

By doing this I can easily change audio source and directly burn to Cd using this skimmed down version of EMC9.

Also, do you know if these issues were all address with EMC10...

If you heeded the call by Microsoft to add SP3, and it was subsequent to IE 7, the way to get IE 7 back out requires first removing SP3.  Check this link to links -
http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php?showtopic=23162

Since undoing the Service Pack is strikes me as MAJOR, you might check your computer specs against the 'system requirements for EMC 9 or 10.  Since you have WinXP, ignore the sytem requirements given for WinXP, which are ridiculously low - the Vista system requirements are more realistic if you want to do video.  Again, this is a link to links.

You might be able to edit the file in EMC 7.5 and do a File\ Output production as..... and make a Video File for DVD Authoring/ Best.    That will give you an MPEG2 file that will be ready to burn to a DVD and 'should' include the AC3 audio as part of the file.

Internet Explorer 7 doesn't break the VideoWave portion of EMC 7.5.   It breaks the ability to 'Add Title' in MyDVD.

Now I haven't tried this workaround myself, but it should work and give you an MPEG2 file that you can add to a menu in version 9.

Or you can remove Internet Explorer 7 and get EMC 7 to work again.

Well everyone.

First I must say thanks for all your assistance in helping me resolved these problems I'm having. At this point I have rolled back IE7 to IE6. I am currently running WMP 10, which is what's recommended.

I uninstall EMC 7.5 and reinstalled it and everything sems to be working ok..

At this point I create my DVD, and have done so flawlessly without a hitch. I have created my production and now is at the point of burning the CD. ONE PROBLEM, the software will not recognize my DVD burner nor my CD rom on my cpu. I went to My Computer and the two drives are showing and ARE also working properly. I tested them by placing medias into them and I had no problem reading information on the media.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and I am verydisappointed with all the hold-ups with this software....

Thank you!

Reading from a drive tests nothing, they can always read…

Try the PXEngine to see if they are restored.

Disappointed??? The software is 3 versions behind and ended production 3 years ago.

Reading?..... As Jim says, they usually read.    There are however two different 'write' heads in a DVD burner and one can go bad.   That's  probably not the problem, but it's something to keep in mind for the future.

I've had to use the pxengine update on more than one computer when something went wrong and it 'lost' my drive.   It's frustrating as heck, but Roxio did issue the pxengine fix.

Disappointed???...... It's not Roxio's fault that Microsoft issued an update that 'broke' a functionality of the program.   Internet Explorer 7 has broken lots of programs and if you upgrade to Vista, you'll probably end up replacing most of your software because almost no preVista software will work on it.   Blame Microsoft, not Roxio.
