imported an avc file with an mpeg4 file extension into DVDIT and got no warnings (none, not even dvd)..however dvdit during production of  image file says transcoding video..is this normal or is it being recompressed again..? if so why no warnings during import? if i dont get bluray warning can i take it there is no recompression unless i select that option in project settings.
thanks john

you will only get warnings with MPEG (elementary stream or program stream), AVC (.264, .h264, .avc elementary streams) or VC-1 (.vc1 elementary streams).  AVI, MOV, WMV and MP4 will always transcode.

hey john,
the answer is very simple. It will be transcode to another file-format, because the format that you are using as an input-format is not spec-compliant to BD or DVD ! thatīs the main reason.

It will be transcode to a file-format that is compliant and DVDitHD using the settings out of your preferences.

cheers

That's interesting. I tried VC-1 from Squeeze and it wouldn't work.
