Argh, I went through this last year with Version 8.  I have since upgraded to EMC 10.

I have created my 340-odd images slideshow (includes 9 audio tracks, total run time about 32 minutes).  I have had variably inconsistent efforts to burn it from the saved iso file, ranging from "there was a problem writing to the disc" to burns that resulted in unreadable disks (by PC and DVD player both) to one that resulted in a partially-successful disc that played for 5 minutes on my stand-alone DVD player before locking up.  This disc however is not even recognized by the drive that burned it!  It also brought up the blue screen of death when loaded into my other PC.

I have upgraded my NVidia GeForce 8500 GT driver.  I have updated to 3.07 firmware for my NEC DVD-RW-3520AL burner.  I have WMP also up to date.  Version 8 of Roxio had been removed already.

The ISO image file is 2.22 GB.  I'm running Windows XP.  I have updated DirectX9.

Any thoughts?  I'm guessing that my iso file is fine but that for some reason I'm unable to achieve a successful burn.  Can I copy the iso file to DVD (data form) and try to burn it from another PC?  I'm at a loss, but I need to start burning
about 80 copies of this program NLT Tuesday.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Since you're in a hurry. Yes, you can burn the .iso file to a data DVD and use that in another computer to burn the DVDs as long as the other computer has a program that will burn .iso files.

HOWEVER, if your burner is having trouble burning .iso files, it also may have trouble burning DVDs.

You might want to see how large that file is and use a USB flash drive to transfer the file to the other computer.

See if you can burn a data DVD that's readable in another computer. That will give us a place to start troubleshooting.

What application are you using to burn the ISO? What name brand and X speed are the disc's your using? Have you ever used the same disc's before and made a good DVD in the NEC?

I'm using MyDVD to burn the ISO.  The discs are Memorex 16-X DVD-R's, although I tried a couple of Sony's too and they didn't fare any better.  The Memorex discs are the same ones that worked (eventually) last year, with the same burner.  I recently burned an audio DVD successfully.

I think cd is asking what program from the EMC 10 suite are you using to burn the iso to the DVD. All myDVD can do is create the iso, it cannot burn the iso to a DVD. For that you have to use Video .Copy & Convert.
Memorex are not considered good quality DVDs. Have you tried Verbatims?

I didn't use Video Copy & Convert to burn it, so I'll try that ( I was using Creator).  All I have left are the blank Memorex discs.  I know there's been a lot on these forums about them that isn't good smile.gif  If need be, I'll hit Wally World tomorrow for something different.  I doubt I'll be lucky enough to find Verbatim's (my personal preference for music discs) but I'm about due some luck.

Interestingly, after my last post we had a staccato-type power outage that apparently corrupted EMC 10.  I reloaded it, and am hoping for the best.

Thanks for the help-

Ah, the drama and frustration continues smile.gif

It was appearing to burn successfully with VC&C but at the very end when it appeared finished, an error box popped up.  It said Unspecified Error 0x1302001.

I think that new discs are in order. FYI, I have had other cheap discs go bad while sitting on a spindle in under a years time!

If 'Chinamart' is not carrying Verbatim, there is no point in wasting your time there. Go to Staples, OfficeMax or other supply stores.

It failed again today, this time using a few Sony's from Wally World.

I find it somewhat hard to believe that one could only burn successfully to Verbatim discs, but I guess at this point that's what I have to hope for.

Is there anything in the DVD drive that could be the culprit.  It's an NEC DVD-RW 3520, and it has the updated firmware version 3.07 I believe it is.  Also, whenever I load a blank DVD into this drive, it's not being recognized- I can open up "My Computer" and see the drive, and it appears empty.  The PC doesn't recognize it as a blank disc.  Is there anything in the way of drive configuration I need to check (and if so, how do I do it.....I'm not an expert).  And one other confusing thing- after re-installing EMC 10, a 3rd "phantom" drive shows up in device manager.  It's called "Roxio DVD-ROM Emulator SCSI CdRom Device."  What the heck is this?

It won't and don't on my XP SP 2 system either. What matters is does Roxio software see the drive and a empty disc ready to burn in the drive?

That is Roxio 'Disc Image Loader'. It has never been put/installed on my pc from any install! One has to open the program under tools and make a drive then it will show like you see it in Device Manager and my computer. You remove it the same way, open the program, bottom half, Emulated Drive List, Remove.

Download the small free program #7 in my signature and load the ISO you made from Roxio. See if this program will burn the disc, set the burn speed at 8X or less. If you need a help file click on the Guides link at the top of the ImgBurn page. Using this program is a check to see it  could be a software problem.

I agree that if you got some new Sony discs, it should burn!

You did not say but if you are attempting to burn the same Project or ISO then the problem may be within that Project/ISO???

For testing why not create a short project using completely different source files and see what happens?

RW media is great to have for this since you can reuse it!

If that fails you would want to do a Clean Install – Here
