I am running

Module Name: Roxio Creator 8 Suite Home
Version: 3.0.0
Build: 3.0.96B
on a Dell 8400.

I create photo CDs by dragging and dropping from MY COMPUTER to the Roxio icon. When the CD has been written, I click on EJECT in the icon. I get two choices:

Read CD on all computers:

When I use this option, I can only write 250 megabytes of photos to a CD. If I write more, the EJECT process crashes.

Read CD on this computer only:

Doesn't work at all. Can't view photos on my computer or anywhere else.

I can write 700 megabytes of audio to CDs. Why not photos?

Rather than telling you NOT to use drag to disc and explain the issue (which I probably couldn't do), I suggest that you use Creator Classic to put those images on the CD.  It is much safer and readable anywhere.  You can chose to not close the disc to add additional photos later (session writing) by unchecking read only when you go to burn.  You will have to import the first session and add the new images.   With the price of CDs today, I would not put all my valuable photos on one CD.  I would probably have back ups including adding a portable hard drive for back ups.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

The issues with D2D/ Packet Writing are covered Here and that would apply to any version.

The only thing I would offer to what Steve has suggested is to point out you have already experienced reliability issues using D2D. Consider that to be the writing on the wall!

Thank you for your help. I used Classic Creator to create a read only disc. I was able to put nearly 700 megabytes of photo files on the disc. It plays on my computer.

However, it does not play on my CD/DVD player. Using D2D, I was able to create discs that played on the CD/DVD player.

Is there a happy medium? Since Classic Creator makes a data disc, I suppose it is reasonable that the CD/DVD player would not recognize it. I would like to have 700 megabytes of photos, and to be able to do slide shows on both computers and CD/DVD players. From the same disc. Is that asking for the impossible?

I could swear I have made photo CDs that played on my CD/DVD player. But I just looked at the manual, and it states that it will not play photo CDs. Now I really am confused. I just did a web search and found software that will convert photos so they can be played on a CD/DVD player. Will Roxio 8 do that? How?

Sounds like one photo disc that will play on both computers and CD/DVD players is a figment of my imagination. But why? Seems like a perfectly reasonable thing to want.

Did the manual say it would not play a jpeg picture disc?  That is a type of picture disc but the player is able to navigate the menu so you can get from picture to picture.

I'm glad you realized that D2D was not and never did play on your DVD player.

Use Video Wave to make a slide show; stay away from the Slide Show Assistants.  This (link) is for EMC 9 but a lot of it is the same.

I have no problem playing CDs that contain the jpeg photos as data on both my computer and my DVD player. Of course you have to have a DVD player that is able to play jpegs! rolleyes.gif
There is no need for other software to a create "photo CDs", EMC 8 will do it without problems using Creator Classic.
