I am thinking of migrating from Nero 7 to EMC8. Does EMC8 have a presetable 24 hour timer that allows
one to preset a capture 'Start' time and a 'Duration' and/or 'Stop' time for unattended recordings to my
hard drive?

Thanks in advance

I searched the program and the pdf manual and could not find anything relating to your question. My guess is no. Does Nero have that function?

Yes, Nero does have a capture timer. It is great. It's just like setting a VCR Timer for unattended rccording.
Ulead Video Studio 8 se doesn't have one either. You would think they all would have this function.\
The reason I would like to quit using Nero is that their manal is really no help. It doesn't even mention
the capture timer besides a lot of other things. Also they don't have a forum like thiis and the support is poor.
Any way sknis, thanks. I'll keep looking...

Correction: ULead Video 8 SE DVD does have a capture timer but, as far as I can tell, it only
allows you to set the duration of the video capture manually. You have to be there to stop capture.

I guess that I should have asked a few more questions about what you are trying to do. In EMC 8, you can set a capture time for audio by setting a recording time or by setting the program to stop when silence has been detected for a period of time. this is helpful if you are capturing an LP or Cassette and you don't want to listen to the music. There is no automatic start recording. There is no ability to set the capture of video.

Not everyone has TV Tuners and those capturing from a camcorder usually don't walk away from the computer. Add to that the hundreds, if not thousands, of different analog capture devices, it's impossible to support them all. That's why we suggest just using the software that came with your card or device.

ggrussell and sknis,

My wife likes old b/w movies. Usually, the only time TCM runs them is late at night when Iam asleep. Iam using my PC and capture devices in place of a VCR. Instead of taping the movies, I record them on to my hard drive similar to tivo. My TV tuner is 'S' Video and red/white audio jacks out of the Satallite receiver into a Plextor ConvertX (USB 2.0). I thought it was only a matter of programming where the program could
initiate and stop capture instead of me clicking the record button then sitting there snoozing in the chair, waiting tor the movie to end so I can clck the stop recording button. Not being a programmer, I don"t know.
Your probably right.

Thanks anyway for the input..

Don D.
