has anyone else had this problem?
The menu screens show up fine in the edit window, but when I preview DVD
or burn to a dvd, the backgrounds on ALL the menus are black.
The buttons show up, the text and preview pictures are there,
but the background image is black.

???????

I will get the hang of this thing soon, I promise.

Usually a video card driver issue.  Update the drivers; make sure that Windows is set for 96dpi font.

My memory is weak but I think I remember that same problem that was found to be an issue with the audio !  Search this forum for that issue.  Update your audio card drivers also.

All of the above is just in case that the first image in each of those titles is not a black slide !  rolleyes.gif   Have you tried to right click on the thumbnail and select the thumbnail?

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

PC  Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Velocity Micro ProMagix ©HD 60; evga x58 motherboard, Intel i7 @2.93, 12G RAM, EVGA Nvidia 560TI superclocked video card, SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme audio card, Buffalo external blu-ray burner; Creator 2012. PhotoShow 6, VHS to DVD 3Plus.

Laptop - Windows 7 Home
Dell XPS 1645, Intel I7 1,6G with overdrive ,4G RAM, 1 GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730, Sound Blaster X-Fi MB Panzer, 500G hard drive.

Apple =OSX 10.5
MacBook Pro; 15.4-inch widescreen display, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB memory, 200GB hard drive, 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW), NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB of GDDR3 memory.  ILife 08, Toast 10, Final Cut Express 4 and Photoshop 4.

Windows is set at 96
My video card is the NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT driver 6.14.11.7516 (rel. 5/2/08)
The mother chip is an Intel dual Core2 Quad at 2.40
it should be able to handle anything Roxio can throw at it

don't know about the sound card

I'm having the exact same problem and was sorry to hear that your machine with more muscle than mine is doing the same thing. Someone had recommended, besides updating driver, that I try a clean istall.  Seems to be the go to universal cure all.  I had just done one to get the program loaded and working  Created a movie slide show using My DVD in Roxio 10.  Every thing works but the #$^@ menu background.  It's really annoying.  I have an e-mail in to Roxio and have a posting in another category.  I'll be sure to let you know if I discover a cure.  I may try an earlier version of roxio, but I'd have to do another clean istall to load it.

Best to start your own thread; this one is 10 months or so old.

Or you can keep checking in with the other post you made.
