Have just tried to install EMC 7.5 but keep getting the message
"_is2.tmp has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Have checked this forum and have downloaded and run the MS Installer Cleanup program. Rebooted and tried again. Still the same result.

Has anyone any idea what to do here?

All suggestions welcomed.

Cheers from OZ,
Edwin

Thanks for the prompt reply.
My computer details are as follows:

Motherboard: ATI RS300+SB200
CPU: Intel Celeron D 2.4 Ghz
Harddrive: WD 40 Gb
Harddrive: WD 80 Gb
DVD-ROM: LG HL-DT-ST GSA-4163B
Burner: LG LITE-ON SOHD-167T
Video Card: In-built on motherboard
Sound Card: AC'97 In-built on motherboard
Capture Card: Videomate DVB-T300.

Background details.
I was using Ulead VideoStudio 8 and Nero Reloaded for video editing and burning but I did not have the manual as I had bought these second hand. I did not find VideoStudio very intuitive or easy to use. I was able to buy a QUE book called Easy Creating CDs & DVDs which came with ECM Basic VCD Edition 7 and liked the look of it so I went out and bought ECM 7.5.

I uninstalled VideoStudio and Nero and then tried to install ECM 7.5 with ECM Basic still installed. That's when my problems started and I started getting the error message mentioned earlier. I downloaded the MS Cleanup Installer and eventually did manage to uninstall ECM Basic but I keep getting the same error message every time I try to install ECM 7.5. Sometimes the error message changes with the is file number being incremented by 1.

I hope this sheds more light on the problem and once again, thanks for yout time in trying to solve this frustrating problem.

On the windows marketplace free downloads hub...find a registry cleaner called AMust.
It might find something the windows utility didn't. You might also want to find that temp file
(probably in C:\documents and settings\(username)\local settings\temp). Delete it. The reinstall
might wrongly be trying to "use" it. This shouldn't matter but it really can't hurt to get it out of there.

Thanks for the reply.
Did what you suggested and downloaded the trial version of AMust and ran it. It found lots of references for Roxio and deleted them. Searched the computer for the_is2.tmp file and deleted that and retried to load EMC 7.5. Still No Luck! Still the same result.

Wish I had found this forum before I purchased EMC - I would never have bought it if I had read about the problems people have been having installing it.

In the meantime I'm re-installing Nero and VideoStudio 8 as I can't wait as I have a project to complete.
I'll also try and contact Roxio so see if they can help but, judging from some of the entries in this forum, I'm not going to hold my breath.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Once again everyone, thanks for the help.
Edwin

ZS - not think that posting advice to a thread that has been inactive since April is a shade on the late side? wink.gif
