All Roxio software I have is updatable, works properly and contains no adware!

Perhaps if you were to explain what you problem is (in comprehensible english unless english is not you native language), someone may be able to help you.

Roxio Copy and Convert 3 [this forum] does not contain "adware". It may access the Internet for some functions.

There are no updates for the software. It is a subset of Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 with reduced functionality - some 'features' aren't included, and others have been disabled.

My Copy & Convert 3 seems to be working well in Vista. What are YOU trying to do which isn't working?

My copy of "Roxio Copy & Convert 3" bought at Staples, DOES contain Adware/Malware! I didn't know it when I was using it with XP and Norton or AVG, on my other PC, (I knew something was there though) but I am running Vista with Kaspersky on my laptop... and it screams at me when I try and install Roxio. Says Trojan.Generic but Roxio said it didn't...so like a #$^@ fool I tried to install it... Roxio loads the EXPLORER.EXE virus which is used to redirect to advertising sites...as well as another Trojan and 2 malware. I could not clean my PC and had to re-install Vista. Thinking that I must have picked up the Trojans/malware elsewhere...I again tried to install Roxio with just Kaspersky...not connected to the internet and on a completely clean Vista install. Lo & behold...the same Trojans and malware again. Now I'm no "guru" but it sure looks like it is coming from Roxio. Maybe you can enlighten me? My command of english is fairly decent, so I can be more concise with my details if that helps? I am only trying to install it without the crap that "accesses the internet". If it doesn't update...there is no reason for access. I have used it before so I do know its meagre capacity...Dave

I had Roxio C&C3 working on my other PC...but I was having virus problems and didn't know that it was linked to the Roxio software. It is! I couldn't clean my system without a total re-install. I am running Vista with Kaspersky and it shows 2 Trojans and 2 malware when Roxio installs. When you buy a product ($50.00)...you don't expect this. It's not like I downloaded a crack version, LOL.

Zip_up_99,

I have only the download version of Copy & Convert [9.1.041], and up-to-date Kaspersky 7 with all systems working says it's clean.

I suspect you won't get much attention from Sonic/Roxio with this, since they seem to be concentrating their workers' efforts into things which produce cashflow now and Copy & Convert is an old product. However I am both very curious, and very concerned by your report.

Would you be prepared to airmail me an exact copy of your disc, please?  I'll send you a disc with the download version at the same time so you'll have a guaranteed clean version to use.

If you're willing to do this, please click on the pulldown alongside my name at the left of this posting, and send me a private message so I can organize this and get a disc in the mail on Monday for you.

Cheers,
Brendon

Thanks Dave,

[I trimmed the big quote off your reply for you smile.gif]

I'll post here what I find about the disc for the other folks who are interested, as well as talking directly to Dave about it.

Regards,

You can do a online scan with other anti-virus software and see if other AV software returns with the same result. it's possible that  Kaspersky falsely label a legit program as a trojan.

Well, that was September 1.

I have since sent Dave in Canada a disc with the download version, followed up by another disc a fortnight later when he said the first one didn't arrive.

I have not heard from him since, and haven't received his disc or a copy of it so I have been unable to scan it and see what he was complaining about. Until I do, the matter has to remain unresolved.
