I'm seeing on various forums that the Pioneer 202 burner can not handle 50 gig media, are they right???. also does anyone know of a safe web site for a firmware update to my Pioneer 202 burner. Gary

Hi Gary,

True, single layer only- don't even think about using non official firmwares.

If I'm not mistaken none of those early pioneer drives will ever be able
to do 50gb media with a firmware update.

Thats why I waited for a drive that would accept 50GB from the beginning.

should be this one listed:
BDR-202, BDR-202BK

BDR202_FW108EU.ZIP

Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure the firmware installers these days
check hardware before running an update so you can't brick a
drive if its the wrong firmware.

For some reason It gives me an internal error and wont let me update my BDR-202...

I am also unable to get my disks to playback on any blu ray player that I can get my hands on. It says burned successfully once finished in DVDitPro and I can see the burn mark but nothing plays it... Maybe a bad drive?
