Alright so I've had Roxio Easy Media Creator 8.0 for awhile now...and it has worked pretty well for me...until now. I open the program, click on DVD & Video then click the option "Capture Video" and a few seconds later, the small window pops up that says something like "loading component, please wait..." (it's a yellowish-blue window) and then a split second later, that window disappears, and I'm left with the original options again within the DVD & Video tab...every time I click on Video Capture, the "loading component, please wait..." window pops up and then immediately closes...and then nothing happens...I have no idea how to fix this problem because I'm left with nothing...the window just goes up and then disappears and the component never loads...All I'm trying to do is take video from my video camera, which is hooked directly into the PC via a firewall cable, to my computer! I've been doing this exact task for months now, but the past 2 weeks, it won't let me. And the computer definitely recognizes the video camera because I can watch the video from my camera on my computer (outside of EMC) and it responds and everything...so the computer and camera connection is definitely ok. Has anybody experienced this before? I'd really appreciate any help...thanks again smile.gif

When you say that it has worked 'until now', I would wonder if you installed anything else on the computer

Both MS Internet Explorer 7 and Media Player 11 can cause the p[roblems you are having. Despite IE7 being classed as a 'critical update' by MS, it should be kept off any machine running older apps.

Both IE7 and WMP11 are back-ported from Vista and make changes to the OS kernel which can lead to the problem you are facing

Uninstall both if you have them and then do the clean install
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

alright thanks for the replies....the problem is I don't have the CD anymore...so I can't re install it

also, there has been some spyware/anti virus program installations, then it stopped working, but I couldn't see any connection between the two...so I didn't think it had anything to do with the problem

If you lost the program disc there isn't anything that can be done…

Try disconnecting from the internet and turning OFF (exiting) your virus/ spyware programs. It's one way of finding out if they're the cause.

You could also try doing an install/ REPAIR of EMC ( which normally doesn't require the CD)
