I spent hours setting up my dvd of home videos using Roxio MyDVD 10. I previewed it and tested all the links and everything works fine. But when I burn it and play it back in my home dvd player I can't select any of the headings. It doesn't highlight the selected title or put an arrow beside what I'm selecting. I tried burning it again and was able to select some headings on the first page but nothing on the other pages... Anybody experienced this? I'm so desperate to get this memorial dvd done for a funeral in a couple days. I'm freaking out here. =(

Most problems with navigation such as what you are describing are the result of moving the title buttons around.  Add the titles in the order you want them on the disc, and/or shorten the title names if you are using text.

The selection buttons are a lot larger than they look and moving them around may cause them to overlap giving the issue you describe.

If you did not move the buttons, pots back.

For the highlights, in MyDVD, you must select the type of highlight you want. Click on a title, open the view settings (you can dock the setting window if you are using higher resolution, and then select the highlight type.  The image below has the settings docked which makes changing the navigation much easier.

Yeah I'm still having the same problem. I never move my buttons, and my titles are short. I use the distance from edge settings to move the buttons around. I preview the dvd and it's just perfect. I can select everything, and play everything, but then when I burn it onto dvd and try playing it on my dvd player, I can't select any of the headings. This is so frustrating, I have wasted like 20 dvds now trying to troubleshoot this problem. Is anybody else experiencing this??

Oh and I just want to add, it's not my dvd player that's the problem, I have tried my dvd on several players and have the same problem. Why would it work fine in preview and not on my player =(

What menu style are you using? Could you describe you menu setup a bit?

Here are a couple screenshots, I'm using the "snowing" menu style, but I have this problem with all menu styles.

I start a new project, I choose my menu style, I click "Add new movie" and insert my movie. I did that for 4 separate movies. Then I use the "Button Layout Rectangle" on the right side to move all the tags to the right location. I previewed it and it works fine, I can select the tags and play each one, then I burn it and try playing it in a dvd player and I can't select any tags. I can click play and it will play the movies, but it won't let me select which one.

I then tried clicking "Change button style" and applied a new style to all buttons in project. It basically just made the tags a little darker. Again, it previewed fine, but doesn't work on the dvd player.

When I click on one of my tags, on the right hand side, in the "Highlight" box there's a pulldown called "Button Highlight". But it's greyed out and I can't do anything.... Why would that be?

I never once moved a tag manually which I've been told can cause this problem. I have used short names which I was also told could cause this problem.

Hopefully this helps.... *shrug*

I just created a short project using the "Snowing" menu style and 4 titles on the menu - everything works fine when I play the burned DVD on my DVD players.
Have you played the DVD on your computers DVD player? If it plays there then everything worked and the problem is with the DVD media you are using and your DVD players. What make of DVDs are you using?

As to the "Button Highlighting" - that option is only enabled if you have thumbnails buttons as well
