Dvds Made With Creator 10 Freezing/pausing

Cleaning the DVDs have had no effect.
Freezing does not seem to occur with the same DVD is played in a laptop/desktop DVD player.
I have invested many, many hours making my classroom DVDs, but this is driving my students crazy (and me). Are there options in MyDVD that can be set during the editing or burning process that might fix this problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

As G-Bruce mentioned, it is most likely an incompatibility with the brand of dvds and your set top player. I have had the most success using either Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens. I hardly EVER experience freezing and skipping using these brands on any set top dvd players. You may pay more using these discs, but it is well worth it in the end!!!!

Let me agree with both prior comments.
Also, the "type" of disc may make a difference. I have one drive that doesn't care much for "dash" (DVD-R) media, but is usually quite happy with "plus" (DVD+R) media. Another player plays just about anything. Counter-intuitively, it's the cheap, $30 player that isn't fussy and will play almost anything. My "good" (read: "much more expensive") DVD recorder/player is much more fussy.

All burned DVDs have errors and so the DVD standard was written to include error correction of various types which can reproduce the data despite the errors. However if the errors become too plentiful then the correction system gets bogged down and you have breaks in the data stream - and the player misbehaves.
Some players are better at resolving these errors than others, as Dave said. The trick for you when writing discs, is to get the error count down as low as you can. However you can't know what works best unless you can measure the errors. Then you can try different media, different burners, and different writing speeds to see what works best. But you need some way of seeing the errors.
A very good utility for this is a free program called Disc Speed, which used to be known as CD-DVD Speed. It's available as a free download here.
If you run a Disc Quality check with Disc Speed, you'll get a picture like this
This isn't really as complicated as it looks. You have two graphs each showing a different type of error. The X axis (up-down) shows numbers of errors, and the Y axis (left to right) shows how many Gigabytes out from the center hub of the disc you are.
The graph at the bottom showing green-yellow is the worst type of error, and the one at the top isn't so bad even though the errors are more numerous.
The green line on the top graph is the read speed at that point in the test, and the purple line on the bottom graph is Jitter, or timing errors.
There is a Quality Score near the lower right corner. It shows 94 for this disc, and that's not too bad, although some of those thick error spikes like the one at 1.25 GB might cause bad pauses on some players. That disc is not high quality to be so uneven.
Here's another
This one wasn't too bad until it got near the outer edge of the disc, and then it really blew the mission and got a score of zero. Perhaps it might have been better to slow the burn speed on that disc since trouble out at the edge is often due to speed. Some poorer quality discs get patchy out towards the edge, anyway, and even slowing them won't help much.
Finally, here's one of my nicest burns.
I cheerfully admit that cdanteek has done much better, but this is a good burn despite the fact the disc is not from the best manufacturer. The errors are generally low with not too many spikes, so it scraped in at 98.
The point I'm trying to make is that spikes of errors cause pausing and momentary freezing [or worse], and with a utility like DiscSpeed you can see them and find the best ways to minimize them by choosing your media, burners, and burn speed. When you find a good combination, stick to it.

I, too, cannot get the "Disc Quality" screen to show with the same version you just downloaded, but I went to the program's website and found this in the FAQ:
Which drives are supported?
All CD/DVD/BD or HD DVD drives are supported.
However, not all drives support the following functions:
Disc Quality, Advanced Disc Quality, TA Jitter and Bitsetting
Maybe (for some reason) your drive isn't supported?
I'm assuming my current drive isn't supported for the Disc Quality screen Brendon showed; I'll try it on another pc tonight and re-post.
P.S.:
I was able to get the "scan disc" feature to run on the drive of the pc I am currently using....

Search for "DiscSpeed\CD Quality" in the the registry. It should show the blocked drives.
The last time I checked my registry in June 2008, it showed SAMSUNG,TSST,HL-DT-ST, and PLEXTOR in the blocked list.

cd -- if you know of a similar program -- one that lets you know how the burn went on a DVD -- I'm all ears. Brendon's suggestion will be great as long as I can get it to work, but I'd love a comparable program if I can't get it to recognize my drive.
