Having opened Movie (non-copy protected) from HDD and sent to burn, computer works away - but no progress is made (tried up to 2 hours!).
Computer big/fast enough with plenty memory.
What is the likely cause? Antivirus? Spyware protection? Or . . . .?

Not much information to go on. What do you mean by "Having opened Movie (non-copy protected) from HDD and sent to burn"? What EMC 8 program component are you using? Please describe your steps you are taking with a bit more information. Also please state which version of EMC 8 you have: Essential, Suite or Deluxe Suite. Only the deluxe version has all the features, some are unavailable for lower versions.
If you have your movie on your hard drive (in avi or mpeg format) you then use myDVD to load the movie, create menus and then burn to DVD directly or burn to an iso image which can then be burned to a DVD using Disc Copier.
