I want to say up front that I'm very new to video editing and I'm still learning some of the terminology. I have to say that I'm somewhat lost with the dialogue I'm seeing in some of these threads, so hopefully I'll be able to communicate clearly the issues I'm having with DVDit Pro HD.

I'm editing very large M2P video files from video cameras and I'm using Edius 4 to do a general edit. I'm not sure if issue evolves around my settings in Edius or the settings I use when converting the file over to MPEG using Pro Coder.

My Edius Settings are:

Video
Frame size : 720 x 480
Frame rate : 29.97( 30000/1001 )
Pixel aspect : 0.9000
Field order : Bottom Field First
Audio
Rate : 48000Hz
Sample size : 16 Bit
Channel : 2
Setup
Rendering format : Canopus HQ AVI
Over Scan Size : 3 %

My Pro Coder settings were compiled from the information on this site:

MPEG 2 HD 1920x1080i

Generic ISO MPEG stream
MPEG-2 Elementary Stream
Width 1920
Height 1080
29.975 Frame Rate NTSC
Upper/Top Field First
16x9
High Quality Encoding
Use Closed GOP (checked)
CBR
1 pass
18300 bitrate (you can play around with this)
Prolile/Level MP@HL
Intra DC Precision 9
Use Strict GOP bitrate control (checked)
Use Audio if Exist
Audio Stream Type PCM/WAV
Sample rate 48.0
Channels 2 ch
Bits/Sample 16

for 720p, change video size to 1280x720 and choose "no-interlace"

I keep playing around with the edius and pro coder settings and I keep getting different errors when I try to load the mpeg file in DVDit Pro HD.

Any help would be much appreciated.

are you importing a single mpeg2 file with audio embedded, or are
you bringing the video and audio in as separate files?

I'm importing a single mpeg2 file with audio embedded.

I'm now able to load the video onto the media palette and I'm able to view the simulation but when I try to burn to dvd I receive the following error: One or more file not DVD compliant.

bring them in as separate streams.

I have noticed that most of the time, even going back
to the first versions of DVDit! going way back to late 90's
it always ran better when streams were separate.

in your case, it will tell you what stream is having the problem.

I also got a problem....

i have about 18 music videos (VDC-MPEG1 Format)
they all got the same format, resolutions, bitrates etc...

when i let dvdit pro hd build the Volume files (or image-file, doesn´t matter what), it always isnt able to transcode audio streams of 5 of these 18 files, although they, as just mentioned, all got the same video formats and resolutions etc...
But, and thats the problem... They is no error message, while transcoding. dvdit transcodes without problems. The fact is, that if you choose these files later by opening the project with a standard DVD-Player (PowerDVD, or others i have on my pc), navigating and so on, they always have an increased audio frequency (plays very fast, you know) and after about 3 seconds of this noise, the audio scratches about 2 seconds and then silence... the video goes on...

I dont understand, why dvdit took these 5 files, of alltogether 18 files, to be unable to transcode correctly... (in the simulation of this project, there is no problem, and while burning into a specified folder there is also no problem) And the files all equal, so there could be no difference in format, resolutions, frequency and bitrates perfomings between the correct transcoded files and the 5 files, which dvdit doesn`t get to transcode correctly.

I've got an idea... i hope, that will work:

I just transcode the specific videos manually into VOB and then replace them in the DVD-Folder...
if there is another problem by this procedure, i would apreciate it, if you in the meantime would tell me about potential problems with substituting vob-files at complete build dvd-folder.
