The Clean Install is often recommended for some very simple reasons:

It most often cures the original problem!

It establishes a base line condition that allows a standard place for troubleshooting to start from!

Yes it takes some time (1 hour?)…
Yes it is tedious (Regedit)…
Yes it can create a problem if you don't follow the instructions…

I suggest printing it out so you can check off each item as you go.
