I purchased Popcorn 3, loaded it on my Mac, installed appropriately, and nothing.  It doesn't even start.  I put it in my doc and thought, maybe it has to have a home  rolleyes.gif -- nope, still doesn't work.

Installed it 3 times.  Still doesn't work.  Thought, okay, even though I've loaded many, MANY programs on my Mac, maybe this one doesn't work because it hates my Mac, so I took it over to my son's and loaded it on his Mac. Doesn't work.

So it's not the computer, or his computer, it's the software.

I can't return it to the Apple Store (tried) because they say it's been opened. Well YEAH have to try it!  And if it doesn't work? too bad.  You're out $50.

Any suggestions how I can get this thing to work?

Be thankful you are even HAVING problems with your Popcorn -- that means it at least IS working! biggrin.gif

I have nothing!  mad.gif  ohmy.gif

YEP!!!
I feel your pain and frustration!!!
I have been having the same issue with this poorly made software.
They don't even support it anymore (or so it seems)!
I have moved on to better software!!!
I use VisualHub. It costs less than half of popcorn and does more.
The developer will respond (personally ) to all e-mails......

If you have an elgato .264 you might want to look into Roadmovie.....
Good luck on getting your money back (EBay)

The sooner you walk away from this crap the better you will feel!!!!

It may be a conflict with a third-party codec in one a Library>Quicktime folder. Be sure the delete any xvid codec. If that isn't enough remove any third-party codecs to see if Popcorn now will launch. If it does launch then you can add the codecs back until you find the one causing the conflict.

I had the same problem with my Macbook Pro running OSX 10.5.5. I went to the website and downloaded their latest version. The icon did not say it was Popcorn 3, just Popcorn but it now runs. The problem I have is I wanted to extract DVD files from a DVD made on a DVD camera and edit them in Final Cut Express but it was all messed up. The Roxio support people suggested I upgrade to 10.5.5 which I am already on and they closed the ticket and sent me to this website to see if anyone can help me. I think that's hilarious!

Did you use the Media Browser to access and import the videos on your camcorder for import using Popcorn? That's what I recommend.

Hi tsantee,

I too have the exact same problem where popcorn will not launch.http://forums.support.roxio.com/style_emoticons/default/mad.gif  So I have a quick question with your reply about the codec conflict.  the only ones I found under Library/quicktime were "appleintermediatecodec.component" and "appleMPEG2codec.component" along with 3 for flip4mac "advanced.component" "export.component" and "import.component".   didn't see any xvid codecs and was wondering if you recognize the ones I listed as something I should keep or delete?  I also see Roxio does have a software update on their site for Popcorn 3.  May give that a shot and see if it helps.  thanks

There is no problem with those codecs and Popcorn. Hopefully the update is all you need.
