When I click on the new project, video capture the arrow spins twice and stops. This is with the VCR stopped and playing the movie.
When I try the Plug and Burn a screen comes up where I can add a title, then on page 2 I click on the start arrow and hear some music and then it goes quiet, then the music, quiet, music, quiet, ect. No picture from the VCR, nothing.
There are no updates available for this prgm.
On-line support had me turn off the UAC. Did it, no change.

Do you mean the USB device rather than disc?

I have installed this $100. prgm. I have loaded the capture USB disc.
There are 2 disc with the prgm. the instalation disc and the video capture USB disc. The title of the disc is Roxio video capture USB
When I click on the new project, video capture the arrow spins twice and stops. This is with the VCR stopped and playing the movie.
A pop up comes up with an arrow that spins in a circle twice, like it is trying to start a function.
this happens when the VCR is playing the movie, stopped, or turned off
When I try the Plug and Burn a screen comes up where I can add a title, then on page 2 I click on the start arrow and hear some music and then it goes quiet, then the music, quiet, music, quiet, ect. No picture from the VCR, nothing.

Did you install the USB disc? How did you connect the USB capture device to your PC?
What program from the Creator 2009 suite are you using to capture from the VCR?
Forget about using Plug & Burn for the moment until you can capture normally from the VCR.
Please describe in specific steps exactly what you are doing. Where do you click on New Project, where does an arrow spin? You have to gives us the names of the program that your are using.

The 'spinning arrow' is the busy splash while a program starts to load from the Home app.

The Roxio Video Capture USB is the new Roxio device and can only be hooked in via USB – unless great force and blunt instruments are used. Device
But from what jphipps has described or attempted to describe, the USB device is irrelevant, since the main program is not starting.
The USB device should also capture in Windows Movie Maker. He should test that to assure the drivers from the CD are correctly installed.
Otherwise I believe a Clean Install would be in order… Vista

That too, but it is the program that is failing to start not necessarily the capture device.
One step at a time…
WMM will capture from the USB device if the drivers are correct. But the program will still not start if the install want awry…
Remember that the USB device is also sold as a separate item and does not need Roxio programs to work.
