Help! GAPS IN SOUND AFTER BURNING DVD

hi, recently i burned a dvd from a video ts folder but when i played it back on a standalone dvd player i got gaps in the sound about ever 10 seconds like a record skip
anybody know why this is?
the original video ts files play fine on my computer
also, what does "fit to dvd compression" do?

My guess is your standalone player is having difficulty with the brand of media you used. Try burning to Verbatim media and burn at a speed slower than best such as 4X or 8X).

Fit-to-DVD compression "requantizes" the MPEG video. I can't describe it but it isn't the same thing as re-encoding so there is less loss of in quality. The audio is untouched.

you were right!
it was the standalone dvd player
vlc plays the dvd fine
