hi guys.
i thought i could burn hvdvd_ts folders on a standard dvd and play them on a standard dvd player. that didn't work, though. i mean, the player didn't recognize the disk's format.
according to the hd plugin advert on the website, i thought it was there to make it possible to place hd material on standard dvds. probably, i misunderstood it.
so how do i burn hd video for standard dvd players?

Yep. You possibly misunderstood it. You can burn HD content on a standard DVD but require a Bluray player like PS3 to be able to playback. Remember the content on the DVD is "Bluray" and not "DVD" which any standard DVD player can understand

i see... so what would be the best way to burn hd material on dvd's for standard dvd players? i mean, seeing a 3 gb hdv quicktime file become a 300 mb one in Toast's (or iDVD's) "hands" raises suspicions in terms of the resulting file's quality. are there any specific settings for creating a high-resolution standard dvd? thanks for the reply, by the way!

You can still burn *using* HD content to a DVD as a DVD. The video files will be encoded to meet the DVD spec which can be played on standard DVD player.
