I have an AVI file that I want to play on my DVD player.

First I just hit the red button - DVD wouldnt play on my Mac or on my Playstation 3 or my other regular DVD players. So i read a little and saved it as an image file then burned it (again i just pushed the red button) and still it wont play!!!

Im using the DVD menu - and didnt alter any of the default settings so I don't know what Im doing wrong?

Do i have to convert it to divx first? Im a little lost on how to execute this process (obviously) - but im very computer literate so please give me any suggestions!

Thanks

Do you have Popcorn's preferences set to NTSC or to PAL?  It should be NTSC. If it is NTSC then please describe the specs of the AVI as they appear in the Popcorn window.

OK - i made the change from PAL to NTSC and have tried so many times, im really wasting DVD's at this point - but it still wont play in my PS3 saying "pal is not supported" I double checked and it is NOT on pal - so that is weird.

I also tried to play it on a Apex dvd player i have and it said "This disc may not support playback".

I tried burning it right from the avi and recording it right from the image file - Im really lost and again, wasting so many dvds, lol.

The dvd type im using is memorex dvd-r , 16x, 4.7gb, 120 mins - any help you can offer would be so greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!

Memorex is terrible-quality media. I'd try a Sony or Verbatim disc before troubleshooting this any further.

There's not much you can do wrong. Choose DVD-video in the DVD section as the format. Add the AVI. Set up the menu the way you want. Click the burn button (or choose Save as Disc Image). If you choose Save as Disc Image you can preview the result to see if it turned out okay. Select the disc image using the Image File setting in the DVD list. Click Mount if it isn't already mounted. Open DVD Player and it should start playing like a DVD. You might have to press the space bar once DVD Player is open.

When you add the AVI file take note of how Popcorn describes its specs. Let me know those specs for the video and audio.
