Sometimes you have to disable the virus and firewall to install some programs.  Did they try that???

Dell usually has an on-board video card which often does not work well with EMC 7.?. Could you list which video card is installed on the computers? They will also have to have DirectX 9c installed for EMC to work properly.

More than likely it's the already installed Sonic software on the Dells.  Uninstall it first, especially Sonic DLA and  then install EMC.
