I agree with Nicole it is totally the Sonic Software although i have a slightly different issue.  I now cannot get rid of the Sonic Update Manager that constantly requests "The feature that you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available"  Despite me not actually requesting to update anything or use any feature or even use the software. I try and remove the whole app to re-install it but can't because it's constantly running the error messages in the middle of my screen and therefore if i go to Add/Remove programs it says I can't change/remove/repair as it's in use.

It has basically meant that now i can't use my computer as i'd wish to the point even Dell is unsure  as to what the solution is.  They've obviously stuck some sort of virus on my computer.

Thanks Sonic. Nice one. Not.

If the software was pre-installed by Dell, it's their update server that is being contacted (they are responsible for updating the cut-down versions of the program).

However, check in options to see if there is a way to close down the update manager - there is on the full Roxio/Sonic versions, but I can't be sure if the OEM version has that or not
If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
