While editing in Videowave or MyDVD there is freezing, perhaps caused by VISTA.  If not, I am thinking may have to do with graphics card that came with Acer Aspire T180 Computer:  NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405. Would purchasing a graphics card, for example, for extreme gamers or major video editors such as myself solve the freezing? If so, any recommendations?

You may want to check on updates for the following:

Directx,
DVD/CD drive firmware
Video card drivers

If those are up-to-date, then try software rendering verses hardware. You should be able to select software as an Option under Tools with Videowave.  Also, use a quality media product like Verbatim verses el cheapo.

If you only have 1gb of ram memory, then you are also on the low end for video processing.

Do a right mouse click on MYCOMPUTER, select properties and then look at VISTA's performance rating for your PC.  If you then click on "rating" you should be able to see what your graphics capabilities are rated.  What do you see for an overall rating and what is your graphics rating?

Thanks,

Will check the updates.  Software rendering enabled.  3.5 RAM.  And, ratings as follows:

Processor  4.2
RAM    4.2
Graphics  2.0
Gaming Graphics  2.3
Primary Hardrive 5.4

Still need to research what these numbers mean.

Everything looks very good except your video card performance which is on the lower end from what I have observed.  Review post #2.  Do you mean 3.5 gb of memory?

Update:

DirectX 10 downloaded but cannot install.  Perhaps the NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405 cannot be updated to DirectX 10.

fallandspring,

Your  'NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405' when I search says directx 9.0 chip! In post # 1 you mention Vista, Vista use's directx 10.

What OS are you running? Did it come on the PC or did you install it?

The NVIDA GPS is internal from what I could find out.  Also, the Acer Aspire T180 Computer seems to be using VISTA Home Basic.  Directx 9 will work on VISTA (I've tried it due to a game requirement).
