I'm running creator-8 Backup MyPC under XP home edition with SP3. I have a secondary SATA drive configured as drive "D". This drive has my digital pictures on it. I have been trying to back these files up with little success. The backup is configured to do a copy of all selected files. I have tried with and without compression. I am backing up to a DVD +RW. My backup routines are: Monday I backup 'My Documents' from the C drive. Works every time. Tuesday I backup 'Digital Pictures' from the "D" drive. I always get not found errors. On Wednesday I backup 'Mail' from the C drive. Works every time. The not found errors from the D drive backup are not the same files every time. The failed files change. It's almost like a timing issue except this is the only software program that is not having success with the D drive. I believe the C and D drive are both running off the same controller.
I did a test and copied all my digital pictures to a temp folder on my C drive. I then used the backup wizard to copy them to the same DVD drive. It worked like a champ. It copied all the files and verified them all. No errors. I then tried to again copy what are the same files located this time on the D drive. Multiple not found errors. Both C and D are NTFS systems.
Is there something within Backup MyPC that I need to configure to have better success with the D drive? Help!!!
Backup To Secondary Drive

This is changing the subject slightly, but if you use Creator Classic to back the files up to CD or DVD, you will have them in a form that can be read on any computer.
With a backup program, you are dependant on having a copy of said backup program in the event you need to restore them.
Of course, it doesn't hurt to do multiple backups of files like .jpgs and .docs that can't be replaced.
As to the cost of using R media (RW is for testing, but not archiving) - compare the cost of a disc with the cost of replacing the data - if it can be replaced.

Ons slightly confusing point in your post
SATA drives are always 'master' - it's only IDE drives that can be on the same controller and are set to master/slave

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed

You're right about the master/slave. That world is foreign to the SATA discs. My controller board is dual ported so that it can support 2 SATA disc drives. I guess I didn't make that very clear.
