Using the Roxio DVD Builder for the EMC 7, I was about to make a DVD of some edited video and wanted to create chapters, which I was able to do under "Mark Chapters". This then creates chapter menu buttons after you click on the main menu button when you are actually viewing the DVD. The chapter buttons don't have titles under them only the image from the 1st frame of the video clip. Is there a way to put a title under each of the chapter buttons?

Have you tried to select a different button type that has text? It is possible that the text is there but you just don't see it. In that case, select another highlight color/type.
What menu type are you using?
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

I'm not sure we are talking about the same thing. When you are about the burn a DVD using DVD Builder. The first screen you see has the word "Menu", a button (which in my case has the first frame of the video), and the name of the video in a smaller font underneath it. You can edit these words by clicking on them, move them around, change the size of the font etc. If you want to break up the video into "chapters", you click "Mark Chapters", which takes you to another screen that can either automatically break them into chapters or you can do it manually. So far so good. When these chapter button appear in your final video that you are viewing on the TV screen, each has a picture of the first frame of the chapter. The questionis this; is there a way to name each button underneath each button? "Hiking in Cornwall" or "Summer of 2003" etc. under the button. You could go and add a title to each of the first frames of each of the chapters when you are editing the video, but that's a lot more work and besides they would appear small inside the button.

Steve does know what he is talking about. Many of the Menu Styles do not have any provision for text!
In this sample there is text on the 2nd Chapter. (Creator 2009 but same principle)
Here I change the Menu Style and poof, no text!
You can see it is still there in the Project View panel but the Style does not allow it to be seen.
You are using 4 version old software, so I cannot really remember but I am thinking that one of the early versions did not allow for renaming of chapters.

As I recall, it depends on which version of 7.x one is using that determines if you can rename chapters.
I'm not in front of a pc with 7 on it, but as I recall, you changed the names in the window where you are "Marking" the chapters, which is different than v8 on up.
But again, as has been noted, the 'Theme' you use could be one that doesn't use the chapter names, so you would have to switch to one that does.

It has been awhile since I had EMC 7 on my computer, but I think the chapters are automatically named 1, 2, 3, and so on. I don't think that you could rename the chapters until the 7.1.1.189 patch was installed. I could be wrong, though.
The patch was only for the Retail version of the software.
Life is good!
