First time poster. I was a new user of EMC8 and it worked OK until my registry blew. System is Windows XP Home.
After replacing my HD, sound and video cards, I attempted a reinstallation. It appeared to reload fine until I saw the icons - all blank window icons. They were empty and nothing happened when I clicked on them.
Followed instructions on Roxio site for reinstall and used MS Unistaller to remove all files, including registry files. Reinstalled with same results.
Roxio does not support EMC8 anymore.
Question: Is it worth just buying the new EMC10 or is there a way to get EMC8 uploaded so I can install an upgrade? Opinions?

Did you add Internet Explorer 7 and/or Media Player 11?
If so, remove them and roll back to earlier versions - both those will wreck EMC8 and earlier
Also, don't forget to close down running apps when you install, including A/V
ENC 10 btw has now been superceded with Creator 2009

If it ain't broke, fiddle with it until it breaks, then fiddle with it until you get it fixed
